The First Quality 6” Thick Orthopedic Dog Bed we reviewed here is no longer sold, so this page now covers a bed with the same 6-inch thickness and a waterproof cover: the LIORCE Orthopedic Memory Foam XXL Dog Bed. It is a flat mattress-style bed made for big dogs.

Specs

The foam is a combination of 40D memory foam and 30D high-density foam. The memory foam layer shapes itself to the dog’s body, and the denser layer under it gives support. At 6 inches thick, a heavy dog will not bottom out and touch the floor.

The flat shape has no bolsters, so a dog can sprawl in any direction. It works in a living room, in the back of a car and in most large crates and kennels.

Use and Care Instructions

The cover and the foam are protected by a waterproof liner, which keeps accidents and spills from soaking into the foam. That makes it a good choice for older dogs with incontinence.

The cover has a wraparound zipper that lets the top and bottom halves separate. You can wash just the part that needs it, usually the top. The cover is removable and washable.

Sizing

The XXL size measures 48” x 30” x 6” and is meant for extra-large adult dogs, the same giant breeds the First Quality bed served.

Measure your dog standing, from the bottom of the paw to the top of the shoulder, and add 4 to 6 inches. For crate use, check that 48” x 30” fits the crate’s inside floor before ordering.
